British retail giant Tesco will withdraw from Myanmar and stop sourcing products from the country after claims that one of its suppliers refused to compensate thousands of its workers when it closed down, according to Ecotextile News.

Gtig Eastar Garment (Myanmar) Co, a Chinese-owned garment factory in the Wartayar Industrial Zone in Yangon, announced its closure in October, seven months after it was badly damaged in a fire.

According to Myanmar Labour News, Gtig Eastar made leather jackets for Tesco’s F&F clothing label. Other British brands that have sourced from the factory included C&A, OVS and Zara.
