USDP says statement mistake was caused by typing error

Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) spokesman Thein Tun Oo told Mizzima that the party’s statement which many people objected as having alleged discrimination against disabled people was in fact just a typing error.

People objected against the wording used in USDP party statements issued on November 11 and 12 on social media pages. Party spokesman Thein Tun Oo told Mizzima that the word ‘polling station’ was missing in the sentence ‘allowing illiterate, deaf and dumb Win Sandar Khaing from Sissayan village to cast the vote’ but he did not know yet in which precise place this key word was missing in this sentence.

“This is just a typing error in good faith. I want people to have a clear understanding that a word was missing in this sentence because of a typing error. We have no intention to insult any voter,” he said
