People Pioneer Party (PPP) said that there were violations and activities contrary to the rule of electoral law in casting of absentee ballots by over 60 senior citizens starting from October 29 for 2020 general elections during coronavirus pandemic.

National League for Democracy (NLD) members participated in electoral process at No. 20 polling station in No. 5 Ward, Mayangon Township on October 30 in this casting of absentee ballots. Moreover, the NLD members allegedly said to voters to vote for their party and parked their vehicle equipped with NLD flags and red campaign stickers in front of the polling station. PPP presented this incident with photo evidence at a press conference held on October 31.

It also alleged NLD prepared to distribute free rice to voters at the prayer hall at Aung Thu Kha 1st street where polling station No. 3 of No. 6 Ward Mayangone Township was built for casting absentee ballots on October 31 and also the party flew their party flags at this prayer hall, PPP said. PPP Chairwoman Dr. Thet Thet Khaing said that she would like to present these violations which were contrary to the rule of electoral law as the free and fair elections were the lifeline and crucial process in establishing democratic country.
