A Yoma bank vehicle carrying more than 170 million kyats was robbed of all its money in a hold-up in Mandalay Region’s Nganzun Township on 30 November, according to locals.

A source close to the police also confirmed that the Yoma Bank vehicle was robbed near Htantapin Village on the Myotha to Tada U Road, in Nganzun Township’s Myingyan District.

At 8:30 a.m. six people on three motorcycles blocked the road in front of the bank vehicle carrying the money, before taking the money and fleeing.

Previously in October 2022, also in Myingyan District, a gold shop was robbed near the city market. According to locals, the robbers were from the military-aligned Pyu Saw Htee militia.
