10 junta personnel were killed when defence forces launched a surprise attack on them in Sagaing Region’s Monywa Township at around 3:00 p.m.on 3 October.

Junta soldiers, police officers and members of the junta aligned Pyu Saw Htee militia were attacked near to the Regional Administration Office in Monywa Township as they were preparing to go out to carry out inspections where they would invariably take money from members of the public, according to a representative of the Chindwin Attack Force, one of the defence forces involved in the attack.

He said: "There were numerous casualties as a result of our unexpected assault. We only had a small amount of ammunition, but with more [ammunition] we could have taken their guns.”

He said that of the 10 junta personnel who were killed, three were soldiers, two were police officers and five were Pyu Saw Htee members.

The attack was carried out by Chindwin Attack Force Battalions (2), (3), and (4) and Monywa the Boys.
