210 illegal Myanmar migrants deported from Thailand

210 Myanmar citizens detained in Thailand were released from detention centres in southern Thailand and repatriated to Myanmar on 21 November, according to a Myanmar labour attaché based in Ranong.

He said that the 210 Myanmar citizens were taken across the river from Ranong in Thailand to Kawthaung in Myanmar at noon on 21 November.

Of the 210 Myanmar citizens, 170 were men and 40 were women.

The labour attaché said: “Thailand is sending back these illegal Myanmar migrant workers after punishing them. They were released from their respective detention centers after serving sentences for various offences. This deportation of 210 workers has been the first deportation this November.
