A bomb was detonated in front of an air force pilot’s house in Yangon’s North Okkalapa Township on the night of 11 October.

The explosion destroyed the front of Air Force pilot Lt. Col. Kyaw Kyaw Tun’s house at 429, Thandar (5) Street, in Sa Ward.

A local said: “The sound of the explosion was very loud, it happened at about 8:00 p.m. A few [of the pilot’s] family members lived there. I'm still unsure as to whether or not anyone inside the house was wounded. However, the front of the house has some minor damage.”

Currently, it is not known what organisation carried out the attack.

Locals said that no junta troops had yet inspected the blast site and surrounding area.

Previously, on 8 October, three days before the attack on Lt. Col. Kyaw Kyaw Tun’s house, Operation Spitfire had publicised a list containing the names and addresses of air force pilots who live in the Yangon Region.

Since the February 2021 coup the junta airforce has bombed and shot at religious structures, houses, schools, and other buildings.
