CDF-Kanpetlet repels Myanmar junta offensive

Two junta soldiers were killed when the junta army ambushed the Kanpetlet Chinland Defense Force (CDF-Kanpetlet), in Kyatwee Town in Chin State’s Kanpetlet Township on 29 April.

The fighting started between Kyatwee Town and Ngaawkyin village on 29 April at about 2:00 pm and lasted for roughly 30 minutes, according to local witnesses.

It started after about 70 junta soldiers stationed in Kanpetlet Township’s Kyatwee Town, launched an offensive into the surrounding area which is controlled by CDF-Kanpetlet.

"We were ambushed. The shooting lasted about 30 minutes”, CDF-Kanpetlet, brigade commander Salai Tun Laing said to Mizzima.

He said that two junta soldiers were killed in the fighting, but CDF Kantaplet had suffered no casualties.

Meanwhile, the junta soldiers have retreated to Kyawtee Town.

CDF-Kanpetlet also said that previously, on 26 April, its fighters had attacked the junta soldiers guarding the Kanpetlet General Administration Office, killing one junta soldier and injuring a further two.
