Coordinated bombings in Ayeyarwaddy's Hinthada Township

The Ayar Nagar Nyinaung Guerilla group detonated bombs at four junta-associated locations in Hinthada Township, Ayeyarwaddy Region on the evening of 26 July.

According to Captain Ayar Nagar from the Ayar Nagar Nyinaung Guerilla group, there had been three groups involved in the bomb attacks. The targets were the township administrator's office, the township court, the front gate of the Hinthada Prisons Department and the street corner outside the police station and prisons department.

'A total of eight mines were detonated, two in each place. The first detonations were outside the [township] court 7:23 p.m. The second and third [pair of] detonations were at the township administration office and the front gate of the prisons department at around 7:30 pm The fourth [pair of] mines was detonated by remote control at 8:33 p.m. on the corner outside the police station and prisons department', said Captain Ayar Nagar.

After the explosions, junta forces engaged with the guerrilla group.

Captain Ayar Nagar said: 'After the first mine exploded the junta troops began firing randomly. Our fighters and the junta troops exchanged fire after the second and third [pair] of explosions. There were no injuries on either side as a result of the shooting, but there will be junta casualties from the bomb attacks.'

Junta troops and police officers have set up roadblocks on the main roads and the town gates of Hinthada Township, according to locals.
