Delegation from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi visits Myanmar

A delegation of eminent academicians, led by Professor V Ram Gopal Rao, Director IIT Delhi, is visiting Myanmar from December 16th to December 18th 2019, to create awareness about prestigious ASEAN PhD Fellowship Programme and to explore collaboration, joint research and corresponding MoUs for IIT Delhi, according to a press release. 

On 25th January 2018, the eve of Indian Republic Day, the Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, in the presence of the leaders of all 10 ASEAN member states, announced 1000 fellowships exclusively for ASEAN citizens to pursue fully funded (by Government of India) PhD programmes at the internationally renowned Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). 

As mentioned by the Honourable External Affairs Minister of India at the programme launch in September, this programme is the largest capacity development programme undertaken by the Government of India, for foreign beneficiaries.

IIT Delhi is delighted to introduce itself as the coordinator for ASEAN Fellowship Programme and an institution renowned for its research, innovation and start-ups. Professor Nomesh B Bolia is the National Coordinator for ASEAN fellowship Programme. 

The Embassy of India, Yangon organised various meetings to ensure effective outreach and create awareness about Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and the ASEAN fellowship programme.
