During the Myanmar junta's military offensives in Khantha, Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region, a total of 17 civilians were arrested, with eight being subsequently killed, said an official of the Kawlin Revolution (KR).

Of the 17 arrested, eight were killed, five were released and the remaining four are still missing.

A Khantha resident who asked not to be named told Mizzima that from 28 May to 3 June, the junta army column carried out offensives in Khantha, raided houses and arrested people.

A local news source told Mizzima, “Out of the eight deceased individuals, six villagers from Moat Wa village were captured together and subsequently killed at an undisclosed location in a group. Their bodies were discovered in a forest near Dasutaung, situated south of Thitphuhla village. Additionally, the junta army shot and fatally wounded Kyawthu, a 35-year-old who was riding a motorcycle between Innpinhla and Umingon villages.”

Many Khantha residents have guessed that the missing people are already dead.

When the junta’s army carried out military offensives in Innya, Nyaunggon, Hpakkhagon, Innpinhla, Chokekone, they had to fight with local People's Defense Forces (PDF).
