Five Myanmar junta personnel killed in attack on junta’s Karen State camp

Five junta personnel were killed when combined defence forces attacked the Taungzun Military Council Camp and Border Guard Force (BGF) checkpoint on the Thanbyuzayat Road in Kyainseikgyi Township, in Karen State on 10 October.

The attack was carried out by KNLA Battalion (16), Special Operations Forces (SOF) and the Federal Wings Drone Force.

A representative of the SOF said: “Since the military coup in 2021 hundreds of soldiers and BGF members have been illegally stationed at Taungzun camp. A BGF checkpoint was built on the road and they threatened locals with firearms and demanded money. These were the reasons we attacked them.”

According to the SOF as well as the five junta fatalities, four other junta personnel were injured and one junta 60mm mortar was damaged.
