India parliament debates no-confidence against Modi over Manipur violence

India's parliament debates a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government moved by the newly formed alliance of opposition parties called “INDIA” against the ruling government following deadly violence in the northeastern state. The opposition’s move to launch the motion is seen as a bid to force comment from Modi on the months-long ethnic violence in Manipur after the prime minister largely maintained silence on the crises. A vote on the no-confidence motion is expected to be held later this week, with Modi’s ruling party confident of winning the motion with a huge majority in the parliament.
