Indonesia’s military chief expressed deep concern Thursday about increasing violence in Myanmar, following futile efforts by officials from his government to influence the crisis through diplomacy, according to an RFA report.
Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto made the remarks at a virtual meeting of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) defence chiefs, including from Myanmar.
An official at the ASEAN secretariat in Jakarta said the meeting’s joint statement would not be released to the media.
