Intruder enters courtroom of Aung San Suu Kyi and takes photo

Three people, including State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, were photographed in court on 13 July.

Facing a charge of defamation under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, Aung San Suu Kyi, former President Win Myint and Dr Myo Aung, ex-chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, were photographed by a plainclothes man in the Special Court of Zabu Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.

Khin Maung Zaw, a member of the defendant’s lawyers, said that while Colonel Than Aye, the prosecution from the military council, was taking an oath, a person with a camera took a photo of the defendants and court position. It is unknown yet whether the cameraman is from a department or an outsider.

The judge was urged to take action, citing contempt of court, and is said to have recorded it. Khin Maung Zaw said, "I urge the judge to take legal action for taking intrusive photographs during a court hearing."
