A ward administrator of the military junta was killed by a gunshot as she and her group was distributing face masks and hand sanitisers near a marketplace in Aung Chanthar Ward of Myitngel town in Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region on 14 July morning.

A witness to the incident said, “The woman administrator was shot in the head and died on the spot, while two or three others in her group were wounded.”

The attack occurred amid tight security in the market area.

It was the first death of a local female administrator in Mandalay where a person who collected electricity bills was recently shot dead.
