The junta Military Council has asked Russia to invest in developing new industrial zones, the energy sector and industrial goods manufacturing.

The request was made by the Military Council's Minister of Electricity and Energy while he was present at the Russian Energy Week International Forum, which officially began on 12 October in Moscow.

The Myanmar delegation talked to Russian energy companies about visiting and investing in the Myanmar energy sector in sectors such as oil and gas exploration, oil refineries and the export and sale of petroleum products.

Due to human rights violations by the junta, many foreign companies in the energy sector that previously operated in Myanmar, notably Total, Chevron, Woodside Petronas, and Puma, have already withdrawn from the country.

The Military Council also invited Russia to speed up national economic cooperation between Myanmar and Russia by establishing an Emergency Response Center in Myanmar to serve as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. It also asked Russia to join in establishing a Russia-Myanmar Friendship Industrial Zone in the vicinity of the Yangon to produce industrial equipment, according to junta aligned media.
