Junta-connected bar in Mandalay attacked by PDF as warning

Following unheeded written warnings from a local People’s Defence Force (PDF), the Golden Hill Bar & KTV in Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay, was attacked, according to the Captain Lin Yone Defence Force.

The bar that allegedly is supported by the Military Council and continues to remain open despite threats was attacked by the PDF at 10:30 a.m. on 13 August.

“This bar and KTV sells junta products including Myanmar beer and the KTVs remain open, so we attacked them to teach them a lesson,” Zero One, the leader of the Captain Lin Yone Defence Force told Mizzima.

“Previously, we only issued written warnings. Then we fired 40-mm mortar shells and guns at the KTV building,” he said.

They only attacked the building and blew out the windows as a warning to close, but they will attack and destroy the building if the bar remains open, Zero One added.

After Military Council troops arrived to inspect the bar and then left, they were caught in an ambush between Sin Myaw village and Late Kya village, Thabeikkyin Township, after a PDF-laid mine exploded.

The soldiers opened fire on the surrounding area but members of the Captain Lin Yone Defence Force were able to flee unharmed.

The Captain Lin Yone Defence Force warned on 13 August that no more warnings will be issued to any businesses that continue to supply work with the Military Council in Thabeikkyin Township, and that they will be subject to attacks from the PDF.
