Junta offensive in Sagaing’s Kanbalu Township kills child, injures two others

Heavy artillery fire by Military Council troops in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing region, on 3 November, caused a house to catch on fire, killing one child and injuring two others, a resident says.

The Military Council’s troops were stationed in Koe Taung Bot village, Kanbalu Township, and fired heavy artillery at Zeekana village, locals reported.

"In the morning, troops from the military council stationed in Koe Taung Bot village, Kanbalu township, entered Zeekana, Hnaw Kone, Shaw Phyu, and Sa Taung Pyin villages. Sa Taung Pyin is a place where residents are fleeing the war. When they returned to Koe Taung Bot at noon, they opened fire with heavy artillery at Zeekana," the local resident said.

According to local reports, one child died and the other two were seriously injured. At the moment, the Military Council's troops have arrested more than 10 local villagers from Zeekana, Shaw Phyu, and Hnaw Kone villages.
