Karen National Liberation Army launches attack on Myanmar military junta targets in Myawaddy Border Trade Zone

Local news outlets have reported that the Karen National Liberation Army, along with their joint forces, carried out an attack on targets related to the military junta in the Myawaddy border trade zone in Karen (Kayin) State.

Sources close to the Karen (Kayin) armed group have stated that the joint forces launched drone strikes on a military base belonging to the Light Infantry Battalion 275 of the junta, which is located near the Myawaddy border trade zone. Additionally, at approximately 4:00 am on March 25, the joint forces raided and set fire to a police outpost in the border trade zone.

Residents have reported hearing the sounds of battle, including small and heavy weapons, early in the morning. One resident said, "I have heard that the trade zone and the Thingan Nyinaung police station was taken by the revolutionary forces."

Due to the fighting, the Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge No.1 was temporarily closed. However, the bridge has since been reopened as of 1 pm on 25 March.
