Karenni fighters seize two Myanmar junta military camps, killing 30 soldiers

The Karenni State Joint Revolutionary Force declared the successful seizure of the Thaysule military camp in Thaysule village and Puhpar military camp in Puhpar village, Demoso Township, Karenni State on 2 September with hostilities continuing, according to a statement released 5 September.

According to the statement, over 30 military personnel, including officers, were killed in the operations. Numerous junta personnel, including Ye Lin Naing, the Deputy Battalion Commander of Infantry Battalion (9) under Military Operations Command No. (2), fled the scene, according to the Karenni fighters.

The statement indicated that during the raid, the revolutionary forces confiscated a total of 15 various small arms, two 60 mm mortars, one RPG-7, one MG-3 machine gun, as well as ammunition, bullets, communication devices, magazines, and various other military equipment.

“The operation commenced at approximately 4:30 am to 5 am, with the capture of Thaysule, followed by the acquisition of Puhpar at approximately 10 am to 11 am. Additionally, the soldier mentioned that junta soldiers called in airstrikes in the battle zone throughout the entire day on 2 and 3 September,” said a Karenni fighter.

According to a local source present at the scene, military forces reportedly initiated an aerial assault and carried out three bombing runs utilizing two aircraft in the battle areas.

As of 5 September, an intense conflict continues to unfold near Thaysule and Puhpur between the Karenni Army (KA), Karenni National People's Liberation Front (KNPLF), Demoso Local People's Defense Force, Central Region - Karenni (Kayah) Military Sub-Region Battalion, Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), and the forces of the Military Council. Fighting is taking place throughout various parts of Karenni State. At present, intense battles are unfolding along the Demoso-Hpruso Road due to the influx of military reinforcements, according to a local source in Demoso.
