Kyauk Phyu officials demand virus quarantine for people coming from Sittwe

A Kyauk Phyu district administrator has said that people who come from Sittwe to Kyauk Phyu township will require to do COVID-19 test and will be put in home quarantine, according to a report from DVB.

If some people who have had contact with people who are confirmed coronavirus cases, they will be put in a quarantine facility.

Myanmar appears to have done well with a low tally of COVID-19 cases and six deaths but the authorities have been stressing vigilance, particularly after a recent flare up of cases in Sittwe in Rakhine State.

Some streets, houses and townships where 6 confirmed cases were living in Sittwe township are now locked down since Friday, according to DVB. The Rakhine State public health department has instructed that from 21 August, Sittwe central market to open only for a half day and for restaurants and teashops to only allow take away meals.

8 COVID infected patients were treated successfully with blood plasma therapy, said Prof. Dr.Ye Mya from ad hoc advisory group. 4 out of 8 patients were discharged from hospital. In the future, confirmed patients with critical conditions will be treated with blood plasma therapy and blood plasma from recovered patient will be asked to donate for treatments.
