Market suspected as main source of COVID-19 infections in Sittwe

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said that according to their findings, the Ministry of Health and Sports assumed that the main source of COVID-19 infection in Sittwe was the market in the city.

“According to the findings of the Ministry of Health and Sports, the main source of COVID-19 infection in Sittwe is the market because known clusters of infections among the people and community came from the Sittwe market so the ministry assumed that it is the source of major infection of COVID-19 in the city,” she said.

She was speaking to the nation on the latest situation of COVID-19 in the country. She further said in her nationwide address that this was not the second wave of COVID-19 in the country and she urged the people to face this pandemic in concerted efforts to avoid the second wave of COVID-19 spreading in the country.
