The Matupi Township Education Officer, U Tin Lway, was shot dead in his home in the east of Laungban Ward in Chin State’s Matupi Township at around 8:00 p.m. on 16 October.

“There is no doubt that U Tin Lway was shot. Previously he was a Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) member but later he stopped being a CDM member for various reasons. Nobody knows which group is responsible”, said a Matupi resident.

It is the first time that a local township’s education officer has been killed in Mutupi since the military coup.
