Myanmar Army raids village in Monywa township in Sagaing

According to local residents, the Myanmar Army raided Lezin village in Monywa township, Sagaing region shooting four people dead and arresting five others.

About 22 military vehicles with some 200 junta troops raided the village at 5 pm on January 17.

"Four people were shot dead. Five were arrested. I heard that they are being held in Na Ma kha (Northwestern Regional Command),” said a local resident. He said that two huts in the village were set on fire and a car belonging to the monastery was taken away.

Mizzima has not been able to confirm the raid, despite claims that it was a raid on a PDF outpost.

Local residents said as junta troops raided the village by firing heavy weapons and small arms, not only local residents but also residents of Thet Kal Kyin village near the village had to flee.

The funeral of the victims was held on the morning of January 18, a resident said.
