Myanmar COVID-19 cases rise to 85,205

Myanmar’s Ministry of Health and Sports reports a total of 85,205 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 64,645 discharged, and 1,846 deaths.

The Myanmar authorities continue to work to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic through a raft of measures including Stay at Home orders, quarantine, mask protocols, hygiene, and testing.

Myanmar continues to have problems with the virus as most of the ASEAN countries have overcome the problem, though certain restrictions including closed borders stay in place.

A number of Myanmar citizens remain stranded abroad. A total of 289 stranded Myanmar nationals from foreign countries arrived with MAI relief flights on Thursday according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Out of 1,330 new confirmed cases, 287 Covid-19 patients had lost their sense of smell and Yangon ranks 1st with 788 cases, Mandalay is 2nd with 236 cases, Bago is 3rd with 89 cases as of the statement of MoHS on Nov 26.

Myanmar ranks 70th in the number of COVID-19 cases globally. The COVID-19 virus was first detected in Myanmar on March 23 this year.
