The Southern Shan State Generations (SSG) says it shot a junta drone operator who they claimed was spying on their PDF or People’s Defence Force base in southern Shan State.

The SSG said Friday that the drone operator bled to death from a wound in his arm.

The deceased was said to be a 54-year-old member of the military council forces, wearing badges of the Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 516 on his arm, according to their report.

"He is said to have deserted. Before he died, he said he was seeking refuge after launching a drone. It is our duty to shoot if an enemy runs away. If not so, our security is at risk. He was treated with medicine. He bled to death,” the SSG said in a statement.

The group said they also found a GPS device in the bag of the deceased from the military council troops.

The SSG warned their comrades to be careful after the drone have been destroyed by shooting.
