Myanmar junta forces kill two youths and injure one in Dawei’s Launglon Township

Two youths were shot dead and another was badly injured when junta personnel indiscriminately opened fire in Launglon Township, in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township, on 20 November.

Junta troops and policemen had been patrolling Launglon Township before indiscriminately opening fire for no apparent reason at about 2:00 p.m., according to the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee.

It said that the junta forces shot an 18-year-old who died on the spot and beat and arrested his companion. Currently, neither of the youths has been identified.

The junta forces also fired at a brother and sister riding a motorcycle from Thabyar Village to Launglon Township. Wai Yan Aung, age 14, was killed by a bullet, and his sister Yoon Pyae Thazin, age 12, was seriously injured and is currently being treated at Dawei Public Hospital, according to the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee.

"When the regime forces and policemen were checking and patrolling around Launglon Township, the regime's forces shot people for no apparent reason. I heard that they fired because people turned back when they saw the junta troops”, said a Launglon resident.
