Myanmar junta informant killed in Mandalay

A junta informant was shot and killed in front of his house in Mandalay City’s Maha Aungmyay Township on 20 November.

Ko Kyaw Gyi, age 27, was shot and killed at about 7:10 a.m. in front of his home between 37th and 38th street as he was walking back from the police station in Maha Aungmyay Township.

A local said: “He had opened a motorcycle repair shop and was giving information to Military Council troops He was shot in front of his house after returning from the police station in the morning. He died on the spot from two fatal wounds.”

A source close to the police said that Ko Kyaw Gyi had been shot by two people on a motorcycle and had been hit in the neck and the cheek.

No local defence forces have yet claimed responsibility for the killing or released any statements about it.

But, the Generation Z Power Mandalay guerrilla group did claim responsibility for the shooting and killing of a ward administrator, who was allegedly a junta informant, in Maha Aungmyay Township on the morning of the previous day, 19 November
