Myanmar leader Suu Kyi assures there will be no food shortages in Rakhine State

Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi has pledged that her government will make sure there is no food shortage in Rakhine State which is currently viewed as a COVID-19 hot spot.

The State Counsellor was speaking during a regular online meeting for COVID-19.

This meeting by video conferencing was attended by Rakhine State Chief Minister Nyi Pu, Rakhine State Healh Department and Public Health Chief Dr. Sai Win Zaw Hlaing and a volunteer Saw Thaw Er Moe who is in Sittwe to help control the spread of COVID-19.

The State Counsellor’s comment came in reply to Rakhine State CM Nyi Pu expressing concern for the Rakhine people over possible food shortages in the state during this COVID-19 pandemic.

“As for the food supplies, on behalf of the Union Government, I can surely say there will be no food shortage. There will be no food shortage in Rakhine State. We will send all necessary food supplies to the state by all possible means,” she said.

And also she pledged at this online meeting that her government would provide financial assistance to Rakhine State according to the needs of the state.
