Myanmar PDFs attack Pyu Saw Htee camp and police station in Magway’s Yesagyo Township

On 31 December 2022 at around 5 am, local People’s Defence Forces (PDF) simultaneously attacked Gwe Cho Pyu Saw Htee Camp in Gwe Cho Village and Pa Khan Gyi Police Station in Yesagyo Township, both in the Magway Region.

As a result of Pa Khan Gyi Police Station attack, one female police officer died and many were wounded, a soldier of the Yesagyo PDF reported.

"We divided in two groups to attack Gwe Cho Pyu Saw Htee Camp and Pa Khan Gyi Police Station at the same time. We were this close to seizing the Pa Khan Gyi Police Station, but the reinforcement of the Military Council arrived around 7 am, so we retreated," the Yesagyo PDF soldier said.

Pa Khan Gyi Police Station is a place where police officers, Military Council troops, and Pyu Saw Htee members live together. They also open a gate in front of the police station and extort money here from travelers.

There is no additional report yet on whether Pyu Saw Htee members were killed in the attack on Gwe Cho Pyu Saw Htee Camp.

"We attacked Gwe Cho Pyu Saw Htee camp with heavy weapons and small arms. They also fought back against us. The extent of the damage is unknown at this time, but preliminary reports indicate that many Pyu Saw Htee were injured," said a Yesagyo PDF official.

Yesagyo PDF has also issued a statement stating that due to the Military Council's offensive in villages in Yesagyo Township and the burning down of houses, people must avoid them and be relocated to a safe place.

Yesagyo PDF, Salingyi Special Task Force (SSTF), Myaing PDF, Myanmar Royal Dragon Army (MRDA), and Pakokku District Battalion (9) all teamed up for the attacks.
