On 22 December, Lightning People Defense Force announced that five PyuSawHtee members were killed and three were wounded during a PDF mortar attack near Tawpu Village, Monywa Township in Sagaing Region.

The resistance fighters opened fire with two rounds of 40 mm mortars on 20 members of the PyuSawHtee militia who they ambushed near Tawpu village on 21st of December at 4:45 p.m.

“We informed of the PyuSawHtee members near the Tawpu village and we went to attack them. They fired back with small firearms,” said a soldier from Lightning People Defense Force.

It is reported that PyuSawHtee members also fired back with small firearms, but the resistance fighters of Lightning People Defense Force were able to retreat unharmed.

The shooting was carried out jointly by the Lightning People Defense Force and the Dragon Brothers People Defense Force.

According to the Lightning People Defense Force, soldiers from the North Western Military Command derived from Monywa Town removed the bodies of PyuSawHtee members in the early morning of 22 December.

According to the Lightning People Defense Force, Tawpu village is home to the majority of PyuSawHtee members, and the local resistance forces have also requested that people who are not PyuSawHtee members relocate to other villages for security reasons.

Tawpu is an enemy village that local resistance forces must attack. Therefore, if offensive operations are carried out by resistance forces, innocent people have been advised to relocate so that they are not harmed, according to a soldier from the Lightning People Defense Force.
