Myanmar swimmer launches IOC petition

Myanmar swimmer Win Htet Oo has launched a petition calling for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ban the Myanmar Olympic Committee (MOC) amid the military crackdown in the country, insidethe games reported.

Win Htet Oo announced his intention to skip Tokyo 2020 in protest at the military coup in Myanmar.

Tokyo 2020 would have been his first Olympic Games.

When announcing his withdrawal from Tokyo 2020, Win Htet Oo highlighted the case of 19-year-old taekwondo athlete Ma Kyal Sin, who was shot and killed in protests in the city of Mandalay.
