NUG puts 20 religious staff serving Myanmar junta on a blacklist

The National Unity Government (NUG) announced the blacklisting of 20 Ministry of Religion and Culture staff under the Military Council on 12 November. Twenty religious staff, including the ministry's permanent secretary and director general, have been blacklisted.

The NUG claimed in a statement that these personnel were committing various forms of repression, including pressure, threats and dismissal, lawsuits and forcing Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) staff to repay the salary loans that need not be repaid.

Civil servants have been repeatedly invited not to serve on under the Military Council and to take part in the CDM by standing with the people. In addition, the NUG has announced that it is focusing on the safety and security of civil servants participating in the CDM, from various departments, including ministries that have not yet been formed under the shadow or NUG
