One man killed, one arrested after Yangon apartment blast

An explosion in an apartment in Yangon's Dagon Seikkan Township at 6.50 p.m. on 25 June resulted in one young man being killed and another being arrested, according to locals.

A local resident said: 'I heard an explosion in one of the apartments in Yuzana Garden City, 94th Ward. At first, I thought it was a cooking gas cylinder that blew up. Currently, the Military Council soldiers are now searching the 94th Ward area.'

There are rumours that the explosion happened when members of a guerrilla group were assembling or testing a bomb, but Mizzima was unable to confirm or deny such rumours.

According to a witness, the explosion killed one man and injured another who escaped before being caught by a group of people in 10th Street (A) and then arrested.

After the incident, many Military Council troops and militia members descended on the area, blocked off the building where the explosion happened and carried out a thorough search.
