Over 60 junta soldiers killed in fighting in Shan State’s Mobye Township

Over 60 junta soldiers were killed and many injured in four days of fighting with defence forces in Shan State’s Mobye town, according to Mobye People’s Defence Force (PDF), one of the groups involved in the attack.
 

According to the Mobyre PDF the fighting ran from 8 to 11 September. In addition to the 60 deaths and many injuries suffered by the junta army, 13 fighters from the combined defence forces involved in the attack were wounded, three of whom are in critical condition.

An eight-year-old child also died after being hit by heavy artillery fire.

During the four days of fighting the junta launched many airstrikes using Yak 130 and Karakorum-8W fighter jets. Junta battalion 422 based in Mobye also fired 120mmm heavy artillery and 60mm mortar shells.

People’s houses and Mobye market were hit and damaged by the airstrikes.

The defence forces involved in the fighting were: Pekon PDF; Mobye PDF; Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF); Karenni Army (KA); Underground Revolution Force; Naypyitaw PDF; and Karenni Generation Z.
