Myanmar has allowed the reopening of pagodas to the public with a limited number of visitors on Monday which has been temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Xinhua reported.

The decision came after the COVID-19 outbreak has been under control to a certain extent due to the effective COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.

The pagodas across the country including Uppatasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw and Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon will be reopened with the permission of the State Administration Council in line with COVID-19 heath rules, the announcement said.
