PDFs attack Myanmar junta vessels on the Chindwin River

On the morning of 4 October, six Military Council vessels traveling to Kalewa from Alon Sit Pin port were ambushed by the Daung Lu Lin-LPDF and other local PDFs near Pann Sai village in Kanni Township, Sagaing region.

Daung Lu Lin-LPDF claimed that heavy artillery and light weapons were used in the battle by the local people's defense forces before gunfire was exchanged. Military Council troops were reportedly injured but the exact details of the damage were not clear at the time of reporting.

"They (Military Council troops) left Alon Sit Pin port at around 10 am on 4 October. I heard that they will go to Kalewa Town. And then, they will go to Kalay Township, Sagaing region. An exchange of gunfire broke out," said an official from the Daung Lu Lin-LPDF.

The exchange of gunfire lasted for about half an hour, and two front-line fighters from the local people defense forces were injured. The casualties of the Military Council troops are still being investigated, according to Daung Lu Lin-LPDF.

The assault was jointly conducted by the Southern Pauk Guerrilla force, Battalion-21, Bo Yay Khal's group, Kyauk Lone Gyi Battalion-22, and the Spring Guerrilla Platoon.

Sagaing Region has seen heavy fighting since the February 2021 coup.
