A prisoner transport vehicle was bombed near the No. (11) police station in Chanmyathazi Township, in Mandalay City at 10:00 a.m. on 1 November.

Three policemen, including a police driver, were seriously injured when a man suddenly threw a bomb at the vehicle, according to local residents.

One said: “Since the incident Military Council troops have been randomly shooting in the area around No. (11) police station on 78th Street between 41st and 42nd roads. Youths near the police station were also arrested.”

According to locals, the prisoner transport vehicle was on its way to Obo Prison after leaving Police Station No.11 in Chanmyathazi Township and there were no prisoners on board.

It is still not known what organisation carried out the attack.

Prior to the bombing of the prisoner transport, at 7:30 a.m. on 1 November, defence forces carried out a landmine attack on a three-vehicle junta convoy in Mandalay City, at the corner of 12th Street and 88th Street in Aungmyaytharzan Township.

A press officer from Generation Power, one of the groups involved in the landmine attack said: "There were 30 police officers and military soldiers in three vehicles. Following the incident, two military vehicles came to a halt, we were able to hear their screams. They didn't even shoot back, and we're sure some of them were seriously injured.”

The defence forces involved in the attack on the convoy were Generation Z Power (Mandalay), People's Defence Urban Guerrilla Force, Pathein Gyi Township People's Defence Force, and G-6 Star People's Defence Force.
