Saw Eh Say from KEAN.

Saw Eh Say, in-charge of the Kayah Earthrights Action Network (KEAN) in Kayah State, was awarded the Human Rights Tulip Award for 2020 by the Dutch Embassy on December 10.

Human Rights Tulip Award is an annual award given by the Dutch government to outstanding and courageous human rights defenders.

"This award has a significant meaning for me. It does not refer to just one person. It is a recognition of the land sector of the farmers, ethnic people and ordinary people who are more than 70% of Myanmar population. Their activities have been going on for decades, this award is a recognition of endeavour which is long neglected." said Saw Eh Say.

The award was received online due to the COVID-19 epidemic, but no details have been released regarding the prize money said Saw Eh Say. KEAN was formed in 2012 and is a local human rights and environmental rights group in Kayah State.
