The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Office of No. (1) Military Region under the Ministry of Defence- NUG sent a letter to Local PDFs not to join hands with combined forces.
  • According to the PDF Headquarters under the Ministry of Defence- NUG, there was an attack on a junta army ship streaming up the Ayeyarwady River somewhere between Kyaukmyaung Jetty and Thabaitgyin Jetty on 28 July.
  • At 10:00 am on 29 July, there was a meeting between the Interim Judiciary Department under Ministry of Judiciary Affairs- NUG and the judges from 28 courts on the ground.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. Consequently, over 9,000 people from 7 local villages have had to run away.
  • In Monywa Township, local PDFs conducted an attack via mortars on the junta vessels somewhere in the Chindwin River at about 3:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages along the banks of Chindwin River since Monday morning. Reportedly, more than 10,000 local people have had to run away.
  • In Shwebo Township, the S&C provided food to displaced people.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of Pyithu Ahman and Shwe Okkan marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe with Strong Determination led a march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the Local Brothers’ Forces donated rice and oil to over 600 households who have had to flee and hide from fighting for a long time.
  • In Pha-Ang of Kayin State, there was a bomb explosion at the junta inspection gate at the foot of Thanlwin Bridge at about 7:00 am on Monday. Reportedly, not only the junta soldiers but also some civilians were injured.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township of Yangon Region, two bombs exploded near the junta administration office of Ward (20) on Anawrata Road at about 6:00 pm Sunday.
  • In Pekone Township of Shan South, 13 junta soldiers including an officer died in local battles from 21 to 28 July.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack on junta vessels docked at the local jetty. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers including an officer died.
  • In Sintkaing Township, the People’s Army to Fight Dictatorship conducted a mine attack in front of the compound of Palait Police Station.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, the junta army killed a mentally-ill person from Pandiedaw Village.
  • In Yetashay Township of Bago Region, PDFs attacked the junta army on patrol in the Sittaung River. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

  • The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Department of the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force has been conducting a campaign to raise 150,000 USD or 4,500 lakh MMK.
  • In Taw-U District under the Karen National Union (KNU), the junta army carried out 33 airstrikes within four days. Consequently, a large amount of property was damaged. At the same time, over 2,000 people have had to run away and are in need of humanitarian assistance.
  • The ASEAN Center for Humanitarian Aid provided food items to the displaced people in Karenni State.

The Military Council

  • After the interrogation of two top army officers and the local Minister of Border Affairs from Taninthayi Region, 6 local business people from Myeik were questioned by the investigation team.
  • According to the junta Internal Revenue Department under the Ministry of Planning and Finance, the sale of Aungbale Lottery Tickets earned over 5,300 million MMK in July, 130 million MMK more than the previous month.
  • The National Defence and Security Council conducted a meeting in Naypyi Taw on Monday morning. Reportedly, they extended the emergency period for 6 more months.
  • According to the focal person from Sagaing Regional Hotel and Tourism Department, over 1,200 international tourists including the ones on package tours visited Sagaing Region from January to June this year.
  • In Vienna of Austria, a Technical Meeting on Integrating Nuclear Security Applications for Nuclear and Radioactive Material Out of Regulatory Control was conducted from 24 to 28 July. Reportedly, the junta delegation led by Ambassador Min Thein joined the event.

Summary on 1 August

  • The Office of the NUG’s No. (1) Military Region issued orders discriminating between local defence forces and revolutionary forces. Regarding it, the Ministry of Defence- NUG should conduct a review as it might disturb their primary objectives of fighting against the dictatorship and building a federal army.
  • Even after the coup for more than two years, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing still has to give excuses for the state of emergency. In other words, the revolution still has great momentum and the military junta is gradually losing.
