Spring Revolution Daily News for 1 November 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • According to the End of Dictatorship (EOD), 200 more pieces of land (of 40x60 feet) at the foot of Yedagun Mountain in Mandalay would be sold for the second time due to high demand as a part of the Spring Spectrum Project. 
  • The NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration announced on Monday that the Katha Township People’s Police Force and Dibeyin Township People’s Police Force had been established in accordance with Article 14 (B) contained in the 2022 People’s Police Force Law. 
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and administration teams from special administrative areas. 
  • On Sunday, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) sent a statement of condolence to the Speaker of South Korea’s National Parliament for the large number of casualties in the Halloween crush at Itaewon in Seoul. 
  • According to the NUG Ministry of Education, students could start registering for the 2023 basic education exams. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • In Yinmabin Township and Pale Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces committed mass murder twice in October, burning a total of 30 people to death. 
  • On Monday, a rally in Kani Township marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • On their 599th day of protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Monday. 
  • On Sunday evening, the Taze Township General Strike marched for the end of the military dictatorship. 
  • In Bangkok in Thailand, there was a fund-raising football match for the Myanmar Royal Dragon Army at Pandar – Fc Ground. 
  • In Mandalay, there was a bomb attack on the junta administration office in Sa Ward between 123 Street and 58 Street. 
  • In Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, the junta army raided Sagyin Village at about 9:00 pm on 27 October and shot dead a Chinese citizen. 
  • Inya Urban Force, a Yangon-based UG, announced that it would continue to clear out the junta leader and the junta pillars even though some of their members have been arrested. 
  • In Los Angeles in the United States, there was a special show for the movie- ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Director Ko Pauk at the Baldwin Park Performing Arts Center from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday. 
  • In Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, there were exchanges of gunfire between PDFs and the junta army in Nyaungbingwin Village and Banlaw Village on Monday morning. Due to the mortars shot by junta soldiers, some civilians were injured and houses were damaged. 
  • White Dove, a PDF based in Shan south, is conducting a fund raising campaign from 30 October to 3 November, for a drone worth 50 lakh MMK. 
  • In Myitkyina in Kachin State, there was a bomb explosion at the junta administration office Reportedly, some people died and some others were seriously injured. 

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • In KyarIn Seikgyi Township in Kayin State, three soldiers from the junta army based in Boatpyin Ka-Ma-Ya (358) defected to the combined forces of the KNLA. 
  • In Shadaw Township in Karenni State, a combined force of KNDF B14 and KA attacked the junta army camp near Punchaung Village on the morning of 27 October. 
  • In Myitkyina in Kachin State, seven army helicopters on patrol hovered over the Northern Regional Military Headquarters on Monday morning. 
  • In Kawthoolei in Mone Township under the Karen National Union, the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya 599 raped a woman from Takawbwa Village and killed her. 
  • Most EAOs joining the junta peace discussion have been hesitant to talk about the junta’s air strike in Hpakant Township in Kachin State.
  • The PPST called on all stakeholders to avoid any activities which might worsen the current political and military conflicts. 

The Military Council 

  • The military junta has been putting pressure on non-CDM government employees to go to Kyaiktiyoe Pagoda without fail. 
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its objection to the statements by Myanmar’s Ambassador and other reporters at the United Nations General Assembly. 
  • According to the junta Hydro Power Department, the Thahtay hydro-power project near Thandwe in Rakhine State could be fully completed in the 2025-26 fiscal year. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health on Sunday, cases of COVID-19 infection have decreased in recent days and just over 1% of hospital patients were suffering from Covid.
  • The military junta announced that they had arrested 10 people involved in the shooting of the military officer Ohn Thwin and his son-in-law. 

Summary on 1 November 

  • The military junta has been against the international community including the UN. They have also been ignoring international suggestions. Consequently, they might face more pressure. 
  • Recently, the activities of urban revolutionaries have increased and so have the arrests of young protesters. As for the general public, they need to provide more support to the youths fighting against the military dictatorship despite various hardships.
