The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the PDF Headquarters under the Ministry of Defence- NUG, the combined force of PDFs attacked the junta army and Pyusawti. Reportedly, over 10 junta members died.
  • According to the Ministry of Defence- NUG, Yoma Column under the PDF of the Southern Military Region conducted an event on the 35th anniversary of the 8888 People’s Revolution.
  • At 10:00 am Tuesday, there was a meeting between the People’s Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and the People’s Security Forces from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.
  • At 1:00 pm Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Team from Yangon Region.
  • According to Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG, revolutionary forces managed to clear off 26 junta members within a day of the People’s Defensive War.
  • The Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG announced that the monsoon wind continued to be strong, causing heavy rain in flooded areas.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In the second interim emergency meeting, the CEC of the National League for Democracy (NLD) decided that Vice-President Henry Van Thio had been dismissed from the party.
  • In Phyuu Township of Bago Region, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) + PDF on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, the junta soldiers killed 7 civilians.
  • In Pulaw Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army wildly fired mortars at 10:30 am Tuesday. Reportedly, a child aged 7 got injured in Latku Village.
  • In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army set fire to Ywar Than Village. Consequently, two houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. Reportedly, more than 10,000 people from over 10 villages have had to run away.
  • On Wednesday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Khin-U Township, there was a mine attack on the junta army. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages. Reportedly, over 8,000 people have had to run away.
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, there were no less than 5 battles between the junta army and the revolutionary forces from 24 to 27 July. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died and 4 others were injured.
  • In Salingyi Township, 17 local strike committees warned Wanbao and Yanci Copper Mining Companies owned by Chinese Government to stop their support for the military junta and their cooperation with the junta armed forces oppressing local people.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • On Tuesday, the Karen National Liberation Army Brigade (5) announced that non-CDM staff and administrators in Hpapun District of Kayin State were to resign as soon as possible and if not, there would be serious action against them.
  • Somewhere in the border area, there was an event in commemoration of Karenni National Revolution Day on Wednesday.
  • In Lechar Township of Shan State, there has been intense military tension between the junta army and Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP). Reportedly, a junta fighter jet has been flying over the area.
  • In Kutkhine Township and Muse Township of Northern Shan State, junta soldiers committed rape against local women and killed villagers in local battles.

The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that the 2008 Constitution already provided full federal rights for ethnics and that ethnic armed conflicts had been the major barrier on the way to a union of democracy and federalism.
  • In a report by the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) on Tuesday, the junta army and the junta militias have been openly committing war crimes including bomb attacks on civilians every now and then in Myanmar.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that even 50% of the country’s needs could not be met yet.
  • The junta leader stated that there were weaknesses in activities for the rule of law.

Summary on 10 August

  • In Kayin State, the KNU has gained more and more areas under their control. They warned non-CDM staff to resign. Consequently, the junta administration procedures might come to a stop there.
  • Despite the delay in the flow of goods due to the damage of roads in Kayin State because of heavy rain, the military junta is not able to repair them, due to their lack of influence in the area.
