Spring Revolution Daily News for 11 June 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • According to the PDF Military Headquarters under Ministry of Defence-NUG, a combined force of PDFs managed to attack and gain control of the junta police station in Nyaungbingyi Village of Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region. Reportedly, 12 junta members died and their 7 guns were confiscated along with other weapons and some money. 
  • Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG stated that they continued to support food and other assistance to the displaced people whose houses had been burnt by the junta armed forces. 
  • Under the invitation of French Foreign Ministry, the Minister of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG and his team had a friendly discussion with the team led by Mrs. Mathile Teruya, the Director of Southeast Asian Affairs, in Paris on 7 June. 
  • In an interview with Mizzima, Dr. Win Myat Aye claimed that the action of the military junta was worrisome for Rakhine people and it was necessary for the international community to put pressure on the military junta. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In North Dagon Myothit Township of Yangon Region, the Urban Guerrillas attacked the junta administration office of Ward (51) with Molotov cocktails at about 3:00 am Friday. 
  • In the south of Yinmabin in Sagaing Region, a combined force of local PDFs attacked a troop contingent of about 100 junta soldiers near Lengaught Village at about 5:00 am Friday. 
  • In Kawlin Township, the junta army took away 8 local people from Kantha Area and killed them. 
  • A combined rally of Monywa Township General Strike Committee, Technological University Students’ Union and Economics University Students’ Union marched against the military dictatorship, raising a banner - ‘Don’t forget the common enemy!’. 
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army burnt the school and 4 houses in Yeeigone Village. They then took away over 70 cows and sheep. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In the south of Kalay, the junta army fired two mortars into Yele-U Village. Consequently, a person lost their life and another one got injured. 
  • In Kyankhine Township of Ayeyarwady Region, a rally of local strike committee conducted an anti-junta movement on Friday afternoon. 
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a local battle. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers including an officer died. 
  • In Taninthayi Township, the junta army arrested 4 young people from U-Yinte Village. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Kawthoolei Administrative Area under Karen National Union Brigade (3), Karen Emergency Team provided support to the victims of local battles and natural disasters in Ledo Township. 
  • In Taungoo District of Bago Region, a combined force of the KNLA and PDFs conducted an attack with a time bomb on the Kyaukgyi Township Administration Office. 
  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, the junta army shot mortars into Kamaigone Village. Reportedly, 3 people were injured. 
  • According to Cyclone Mocha ERRCA, United Wa State Army and the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee donated 10,000 lakh MMK for the storm victims in Rakhine State. 

The Military Council 

  • A delegation led by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar is reportedly having a secret meeting with the junta Chief Minister of Kachin State Government at the State Government Office in Myitkyina. 
  • The military junta stated that they had disseminated information about the current situation of Myanmar to those present at the planning meeting of the ASEAN Counter-Terrorism Committee. 
  • In a speech to women army officers on Friday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that leadership is a bridge between the seniors and the juniors and it includes responsibility and accountability. 
  • In his inspection at the army broadcasting station in Hmawbi, the junta leader stated that it was necessary for the junta soldiers on the frontline battlefield to be able to listen to the radio programmes. 
  • The junta Customs Department announced that they had reduced the customs duty on the SKD/CKD cars manufactured locally. 
  • The junta Health Central Committee stated that they had permitted licenses to 266 private hospitals throughout the country until 1 June 2023. 
  • The second junta leader Soe Win claimed that it was necessary for the states and regions to draw up and implement potential projects depending on the types of products they could produce. 

Summary on 11 June 

  • Despite their coup by force, the military junta lacks administration skills and they have just followed into the footsteps of the previous military dictators such as ‘A product per village’, which failed. 
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been burning local villages on a daily basis. Nevertheless, the revolution has gained greater momentum.
