Spring Revolution Daily News for 11 October 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • In Indiana in the United States, the MATC organized a fund-raising event for the Spring Revolution. Present was U Aung Kyi Nyunt, the Chair of the Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH). Reportedly, Union Ministers such as Dr. Zaw Wai Soe and Daw Suzannar Hla Hla Soe as well as Deputy Minister U Moe Zaw Oo delivered speeches online. 
  • At 10:00 am on Sunday, there was a meeting (29/2022) between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Public Administration Teams of Special Administrative Areas. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • A retired brigadier general named Ohn Thwin and his son-in-law were assassinated by urban guerrillas. According to Inya Urban Force, they got more information from the victims’ mobile phones and they will continue with their missions. 
  • In Yangon, a combined rally of the Burmese Students’ Union, the Yangon Rebel Strike Committee and the Burmese Youth Revolution Force (BYRF) marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In front of the Myanmar Embassy in India, there was a protest against Sitagu Sayadaw and the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing who were on a trip there. 
  • In Wandwin in Mandalay Region, a PDF shot dead Police Officer Saw Naing Oo from the local junta police station on Sunday evening. 
  • On Monday, a rally of anti-junta monks conducted a protest themed –‘As long as we join the revolution, we must surely win’. 
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township, a Pyu Saw Htee member was shot dead. 
  • In Sagaing Region, there was a mortar attack on the construction site of a new prison near the junta Northwest Military Headquarters in Monywa and Thazi Village on Sunday. Reportedly, there were casualties among members of the junta armed forces. 
  • In Monywa, there was a grenade attack on the junta army on patrol near Myanmar’s Economic Bank. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died. 
  • In Ayadaw Township, the Basic Education Students’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement in memory of local PDF leaders who had been killed in the previous year. 
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta army carried out an air strike on Ngapanchaung Village and raided the area. Reportedly, two local people and a PDF member were arrested and killed. 
  • On Monday, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship. 
  • In Wetlet Township, a rally of local people and strike committee members protested against the military dictatorship on Monday. 
  • In Taze Township, there was a strike of lights in honor of the martyrs who had sacrificed their lives in the revolution and against the military dictatorship on the full moon day of Thadingyut. 
  • In Bago Region, there was an attack on junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members from the junta gate at Mile Post (83) on the highway. Reportedly, no less than five junta members died. 

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • On Monday, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), which had meetings with the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, announced that they would like to meet with ethnic revolutionary forces. 
  • In an interview with the Mekong News Agency, an RCSS spokesperson offered peace talks with ethnic forces in Shan State. He said that if they could meet face to face, they would be able to exchange information and reduce intense conflicts by better understanding each other.
  • The Arakan Army (AA) confirmed that it attacked and took control of the junta army Laitya Border Camp on Monday at dawn. 
  • In Hakha in Chin State, Mg Ni Man, a junta policeman from the local police station, defected to CDF – Senthang on Saturday. 

The Military Council 

  • The Mon Peace Organization announced that it would join hands with the military junta and serve as an indigenous people’s army for the peace process. 
  • According to the junta’s propaganda media, Mg Khine, a maker of mines for urban attacks, was arrested in Ta Ward of Pyigyi Dagun Township at about 8:00 am on Monday. 
  • The junta Yangon City Development Committee announced that the houses and apartments in the city must be painted and fenced along with the cutting and removal of all bushes and shrubs. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, over a billion USD was earned from the export of agricultural products in the first six months of the 2022-23 fiscal year. 

Summary on 11 October 

  • The NUG stated that it would put an end to the military dictatorship within one year. After that, the military junta got started with its activities via the RCSS to discuss peace with ethnic armed organisations. No matter what, it is said that there could be no real peace under the junta army led by Min Aung Hlaing with the desire to make the country his own. 
  • In Rakhine State, the military junta had to let go of another camp. Moreover, they lost many junta soldiers including an officer. It highlights that despite their air strikes, the junta army’s military performance is poor. Junta soldiers would lose within days if they had to fight PDFs and EAOs on equal terms.
