Spring Revolution Daily News for 13 May 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The NUG announced that they would financially support Federal Wings Drone Force which is well-known for their air attacks causing a great loss for the junta armed forces. 
  • For those who have passed 2022-23 high school exam of the KIO Government and those who have completed basic education of the NUG, they can draw the application for courses at Kachin State Comprehensive University starting from 20 May. 
  • At 10:00 am Thursday, the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration conducted a meeting. 
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and the District People’s Administration. 
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the Labor Affairs’ Committee under Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the Ministry of Economics and Commerce-NUG. 
  • According to a focal person of Yangon Region Western PDF, they conducted an attack with 40mm grenades on the junta government office in the compound of Yangon Parliament in Dagon Township at 4:30 am Friday. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship on Friday morning. 
  • On Friday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta army shot dead two children in Mezaw Area for no apparent reason on Friday morning. 
  • In Sagaing Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army stationed in Nyaung Ngotto Village at 4:40 pm Thursday. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta soldiers shot dead 5 local people including a child aged 6 on Thursday morning. 
  • Somewhere on Monywa-ChaungU Road, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy carrying copper at about 1:00 pm Thursday. 
  • In Chaung-U Township, the junta army burnt Pweyat Ward at about 7:00 pm Thursday. They then forced the people, arrested as hostages, to chant ‘PDFs have done it’ and filmed them. 
  • In Chaung-U Township, the junta army fired mortars into Ngarshant Village on Thursday night. They also set fire to over 200 houses. Reportedly, a person lost his life. 
  • In Myinmu Township, there were mine attacks on the junta troops on Monywa-Mandalay Road at 1:30 pm Thursday. 
  • In Wetlet Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta armed forces stationing on the crossroads of Ywathagyi Village at about 9:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, 6 junta members died. 
  • In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a hand-made bomb explosion at a house in Ward (13) at about 7:00 pm Thursday. 
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, Kyankhine Township Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta movement, holding signs against the military dictatorship. 
  • In Kyonepyaw, PDFs attacked the junta administration office. Reportedly, local police officer Kyaw Moe, who was seriously injured in the incident, died on 9 May. 
  • On Friday, Daw Mya Mya, Vice-Chair of Mandalay Regional National League for Democracy, was released from Obo Prison. 
  • In Moegok, there were simultaneous attacks on the four places including the junta Kyatpyin Police Station at about 2:40 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 11 junta members died. 
  • In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, Thein Zaw, a junta captain on duty at the inspection gate in Taungkayan Village, was shot dead at about 8:00 am Thursday. 
  • In Myaing Township, PDFs conducted a mine attack on the junta army in Thayetkan Village at about 7:00 am Thursday, killing a junta soldier and destroying the junta vehicles along with rations. 
  • In Tandabin Township of Bago Region, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of the KNU + the PDF from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm Wednesday. Afterwards, the junta soldiers committed a massacre of 18 innocent civilians and burnt them. 
  • In Gyobinkauk, the junta army arrested 5 local people at about 2:00 pm Wednesday and shot dead one of them. 
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, the Rural Land donated the stationery to a school of the IDPs. 
  • On Thursday, Bhama People’s Liberation Army completed their training Batch (1). 
  • In Sisai Township of Shan South, there was an attack on a convoy of international diplomats. Regarding the incident, Pa-O National Federal Council called on the international community including the Special Envoy Office of the ASEAN to Myanmar to investigate it and take action. 
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), up to 3,490 people have lost their lives due to the junta armed forces until 11 May after the military coup. 
  • Blood Money Campaign- MM called on the public to sign an open letter to the G7 leaders for serious action to be taken against the military junta. 
  • According to the Special Advisory Council on Myanmar, ASEAN should consider the fact that the military junta is the root of all violence in Myanmar. 
  • Noeleen Heyzer, the Special Envoy of the United Nations, called on regional countries to make an effort of unity with Myanmar to bring it back to civilian rule. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • According to the spokesperson of the Arakan Army, their Arakan Government has been evacuating 11,080 people from 21 local villages in the lower sea area who are at risk of severely suffering from the cyclone in Rakhine State. 
  • In Nanmar of Kachin State, there were constant sounds of ammunitions starting from 6:00 am Friday. Reportedly, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of the KIA + the PDF. 
  • After the warning to the public, CDF CDM Siyin shot projectiles constantly at the junta army stationed in Kalay University of Sagaing Region and Khinekan Police Station of Chin State. 
  • In Kalay Township, the junta army fired shells into Latpanchaung Village at about 12:00 pm Thursday. According to a focal person of CNO Upper Chindwin Region, two women were seriously injured in the incident. 
  • On the border of Pekone Township and Pin Laung Township, there was a clash in Taungsalone Village on 8 May. Reportedly, the Commander of the KNDF B-11 was seriously injured and lost his life the following day. 

The Military Council 

  • On Thursday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that there must be arrangements for direct flights from Laos, China and Thailand to land at Kyaingtone Airport. 
  • The junta Yangon Regional Chief Minister stated that there must be preparations for the priority evacuation of the elderly and the disabled in the face of any natural disaster. 
  • In Rakhine State, the junta State Government and the monks conducted a religious ritual to pray to prevent the storm from entering the area. 
  • The military junta announced on Thursday that whoever will be arrested if they hold or carry arms illegally in public places. 
  • The junta Ministry of Communication and Transportation instructed all the fishing boats, vessels and ships not to go out to sea starting from 12:00 pm Friday. 
  • The junta Department of Meteorology and Hydrology claimed that Cyclone Mocha could hit Rakhine State with the wind power up to over 100 miles per hour. 
  • According to the junta Health Ministry, 168 more people tested COVID-19 positive. 
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce announced on Tuesday that the government team of rice storage registration had been set up. 
  • According to the junta Communication Department, they have been inspecting the personal information contained in SIM registrations in accordance with the national database of Ministry of Immigration. 
  • In big cities like Yangon and Mandalay, the junta armed forces have placed posters on the lamp posts and bus stations with the message that PDFs will be financially rewarded if they defect to them. 

Summary on 13 May 

  • From time to time, the junta army has been committing a war crime by burning groups of people to death if and when they have had a great loss. 
  • The military junta has been inspecting the personal information of the mobile SIM registration. In other words, they have been trying to oppress the revolution forces by all means.
