The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the NUG on Thursday, a total of 165 people lost their lives in the junta’s first airstrike on Pazigyi village in Sagaing, including 27 women, 8 boys under 18 and 11 girls under 18.
  • For the injured in the airstrikes in Pazigyi village, Ministry of Defence-NUG and Ministry of Health-NUG have been providing medical treatment. Reportedly, 17 people have undergone major operations and they have been in a critical condition. Among the victims, a child aged 8 was burnt over almost their whole body and a pregnant woman had to have a hand amputated.
  • At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting (9/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Teams from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.
  • To mourn the loss of the people in Pazigyi Village in Kantbalu Township, Mandalay PDF flew their flag at half-mast and prayed silently for a minute.

Revolution Activities

  • To prevent Myanmar people from suffering from junta aerial bombing and airstrikes using fighter jets, activists for Myanmar called on the US government to provide assistance for air defence alert systems, effective communication systems, medical systems and drones.
  • On Wednesday, the National Human Rights Council of Thailand called on Thai government and authorities not to send back Myanmar asylum seekers given the insecure situation in Myanmar.
  • On Thursday, the President of Indonesia and the Chair of the ASEAN strongly condemned the junta’s massacre in Pazigyi Village of Kantbalu Township in Sagaing Region.
  • In Lashio of Shan State, there was a bomb explosion at the pandal near the Yandineaung Pagoda at about 11:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, there were casualties in the incident. One report claimed four were killed.
  • In Monywa of Sagaing Region, very few people played with water on the first day of Thingyan.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of Yinabin East and Salingyi North continued their march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Minkin Township, local PDF attacked Sanabyin Village of Pyusawti members at 5:00 am on 7 April. Reportedly, there were exchanges of fire.
  • In Shwebo Township, a junta administrator was shot dead.
  • On Thursday, Taze Township General Strike marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • According to the rescue teams, they managed to collect the names of villages of 144 victims, who had lost their lives in the airstrikes in Pazigyi Village.
  • In Kani Township, the Strike Committee and the local people conducted an anti-junta protest at a point along the Monywa-Yagyi-Kalaywa Road on Thursday morning.
  • In villages on the river banks of Chindwin, local people carried out anti-junta movements, chanting Thingyan slogans of driving away the army dogs.
  • To express their sorrow for the victims of the junta’s airstrikes in Pazigyi Village of Kantbalu, the Students Army flew their flag at half-mast.
  • In Myeik Township of Taninthayi Region, fully-armed Pyusawti members took security measures for the opening ceremony of the pandal in Kalwin Village Tract at 9:00 am Thursday.
  • In Dawei, very few people took part in the festival on the first day of Thingyan.
  • In Osaka of Japan, Myanmar’s Social Assistance Group will organize a fund-raising event for the Spring Revolution at Hira Kata Shi Nippei Park on 16 April on Sunday.
  • In Yangon, the Octopus Social Group conducted a movement near the Revolution Park, calling on the public to silently enjoy Thingyan as there are people who have had to flee their homes and who have been away from their beloved ones due to the junta armed forces.
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, the YGF attacked the junta administration office in Zee Phyu Thaung Village. Reportedly, two junta members died and two AK-47 rifles were confiscated.
  • In Beelin Township, there was a battle in Alulay Village on Wednesday morning. Afterwards, the junta army set fire to 3 people’s houses.
  • In Yangon, anti-junta youth expressed their desire on Thursday, holding signs - ‘Don’t throw water for the sake of the upcountry area’.
  • In Thaketa Township, there was a bomb explosion at the junta traffic police booth on Thursday morning. Reportedly, there were no casualties.
  • In Pyin Oo Lwin Township of Mandalay Region, young people protested against the military dictatorship on the first day of Thingyan.
  • On entrance to the town of Madayar, there was a mine attack on the junta army on patrol in front of the USDP Office. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township, there were two mine attacks on two military cars in Dagaung Area, killing about 15 junta soldiers.
  • In Thonese of Bago Region, there was an attack on a gambling event led by Pyusawti members.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • After the junta’s airstrikes in Mindat Township of Chin State, local CDF found unexploded shells and bombs in their clearance operation.
  • According to the spokesperson of Chin National Army, they managed to destroy all the vehicles contained in the junta’s convoy on the way from Falam to Hakha.
  • In Kokang Area of Shan State, two soldiers from the junta, bringing with them two guns, defected to the MNDAA.

The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing made a personal request to the Thai authorities to remove the name of his daughter from the case of the arms dealer Tun Min Latt, who had been arrested in Thailand for drug trafficking and money laundering.
  • The military junta falsely claimed that the spokesperson of the UN Secretary General and the 7 major countries had been condemning the attack of Pazigyi Village without knowing the truth.
  • On Wednesday, the military officers from Myanmar and Bangladesh had a discussion for the security of the border area.
  • At 7:30 am Thursday, the military junta opened the Yangon Central Pandal on the first day of Thingyan.

  • In Yangon, the military junta made an effort to encourage crowds to attend the Mayor’s Pandal and celebrations in the People’s Square. However, it was silent in most places.
  • The international community denounced the junta’s attacks on the civilians in Pazigyi village in Sagaing. However, the military junta has been trying to deny their war crime.
