The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Thursday, Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG strongly condemned the junta’s bomb attack on Camp Victoria, the headquarters of the Chin National Front, targeting the living quarters of women and children, hospitals, clinics and medical warehouses.
  • According to the NUG, more than 12,000 soldiers and police members have joined the CDM within 21 months starting from the military coup on 1 February 2021.
  • In the meeting of the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration on Thursday, Union Prime Minister stated that the Central Committee on the Review of Complaint Letters managed to deal with complaints and it was a task which would enable the public to trust the NUG government.
  • On Wednesday, Spring Revolution Myanmar Muslim Network presented about the paper on the Future Myanmar - Federal Democratic Union to Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).
  • Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG announced that illegal drugs worth nearly 1,500 lakh MMK had been confiscated in Pinlebu Township of Sagaing Region at 5:30 pm Wednesday.

Revolution Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of villages from Salingyi North marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • For the children of the IDPs in Sagaing Region, the S&C opened the 6th school.
  • Somewhere in Monywa, General Strike Committee marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday, raising a banner against the junta’s fake election.
  • In Kani Township, thousands of local people from nearly 20 local villages welcomed the PDFs who had fought the junta army which had retreated with a great loss.
  • In Shwebo Township, PDFs conducted an attack with 40mm grenades on the junta army, which had set fire to Kangyitaw Village, at 3:00 pm Thursday.
  • In Kani Township, Kyauklonegyi PDF shared some bags of rice out of their rations with the fire victims from Thetgyi Village and the IDPs.
  • In Indaw of Kathar District, the junta army wildly opened gunfire at about 10:00 am Thursday. Consequently, a couple were hit. According to Indaw Revolution, the husband died.
  • At about 1:00 pm Friday, the junta army set fire to Moegyoe Pyin Taung (Middle) Village without any battle near Letbadaung Copper Mining.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was a mine attack on a military truck at 4:00 pm Wednesday. According to Black Wolf Army on Thursday, no less than 6 junta soldiers died.
  • In Ayadaw Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army demanding money along the road of Kyungbopin Village on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • In Monywa Township, PDFs attacked the junta army on secret patrol in Tawpu Village at 2:30 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 3 junta members died.
  • On Friday, a rally of Burmese Students’ Union, Democratic Party for a New Society, Youth of New Society and Mingalar Taung Nyunt Strike Committee marched against the junta’s election.
  • In Natmauk Township of Magwe Region, Win Khine, headmaster of the primary school in Phyauk Seik Gone Village, was shot dead while collecting the household population census for the junta’s fake election at 4:00 pm Thursday.
  • In Pakkoku, the junta army shot dead two young men at 2:00 pm Thursday, reasoning that they had been riding on the same motorbike.
  • In Mandalay, a rally of Pyigyi Dagun protested against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township, there was a bomb explosion at the religious hall in Kyunglone Oatshaung Ward on Thursday afternoon.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, there were grenade attacks on the junta police camp and the junta administration office at 6:30 pm Thursday.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township, local PDF announced that they would attack the junta pillars such as U Man Sein Company and Myanmar Golden Point Family and thus, the public were to stay away from such companies.
  • In Oatpho Township of Bago Region, Kyaw Kyaw, allegedly a Pyusawti member, was shot dead in Winthayet Village Tract at 12:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, a combined rally of anti-junta youth conducted a campaign for the boycott against junta army products.
  • In Dawei Township, PDFs attacked a military convoy on 5 and 7 January. Reportedly, 20 junta soldiers died and many others were injured in the three battles.
  • In Moenyin Township of Kachin State, a local revolution force caught 5 people - 3 policemen and 2 informers - near Mawhan Village on Thursday afternoon.
  • On Thursday, the junta army arrested 12 shopkeepers in Hakha for closing their shops in memory of the comrades who had lost lives in the junta’s aerial attack on the headquarters of the CNF/ CNA in Chin State.
  • In Hpapun District of Kayin State, the junta army conducted the bombing on local villages including churches and schools at about 2:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 5 people lost lives including a child aged 2, his mother and a preacher.
  • Saifuddin Abdullah, former Foreign Minister of Malaysia, stated that the junta’s fake election would lengthen the instability and civil war in Myanmar.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In the area under Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (5) in Hpapun District of Kayin State, a combined force of KNU/KNLA and PDFs has been attacking the junta Mewine Camp on a daily basis. As the junta army has had a great loss, they have fired ammunition in areas where civilians are situated.
  • In Chin State, a soldier from the junta army Ka-La-Ya (266) based in Hakha defected to CDF Zophei.
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, KNDF B16 announced on Thursday that the public were not to use Nanphe Road, Bawlake Road and Tuchaung Road.

The Military Council

  • In his visit to Pathein Prison on Wednesday, the junta Minister of Home Affairs instructed the prison staff to cooperate with the police and conduct systematic inspection in the dormitories of prisoners as there were cases of delivery of restricted items.
  • On Thursday, the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it was necessary for the ASEAN not to communicate with terrorist organizations and blacklisted organizations.
  • According to the junta Transportation Department, they would carry out the license extension for cars and motorbikes without any inspection until March 2023.
  • Dr. Thidar Tin, wife of the junta Minister of International Cooperation, was temporarily appointed to be the director general of the Media Development Bureau.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, the trade volume was worth over 6 billion USD via Myanmar border trade camps from 1 April to the end of December 2022 in the current fiscal year.

Summary on 13 January

  • The military junta has been committing war crimes by conducting the aerial bombing of civilian targets and religious buildings for no apparent reason.
  • In the initial period of the military coup, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing himself promised that they would implement the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus. But now, he seems as if he does not care about this priority for the association.
