The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • U Kyaw Zaw, the spokesperson from the Presidential Office of the NUG, claimed that with regard to State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, what the Foreign Minister of Thailand said was just a made-up political story.
  • According to Sagaing Regional Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG, the Kalay People’s Police Force arrested a drug dealer.
  • Dr. Win Myat Aye, Minister of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG, has been in the United States. On Tuesday, he had a friendly meeting with Myanmar families in California.
  • In June, the Deputy Minister of International Cooperations- NUG was in Italy. Reportedly, he met with the responsible personnel, the MPs and Myanmar families there. He presented to them about the status quo of Myanmar, the extent of success in the revolution and the cooperation between Italy and Myanmar.
  • At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.
  • On Tuesday, Pakkoku Township People’s Defence Force announced that some people had been blackmailing business people by abusing the name of PDFs.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe with strong determination marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta army killed a local resident of Thonesintkan Village by burning and set fire to over 100 houses.
  • In Khin-U, the PDFs attacked the junta army in Aung Mingalar Ward at 11:30 pm Tuesday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was an attack via projectiles on the junta armed forces burning villages on the morning of 8 July.
  • In Monywa Township, there was an attack via 107mm grenades into the junta Northwest Military Headquarters. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and 9 others including a captain got seriously injured.
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta army conducted an air strike via Mi-35 military helicopter on Myogyi Village at about 4:00 pm Wednesday. They then set fire to the village.
  • In Myinmu Township, there were exchanges of fire near Kwetkwin Village at 4:30 am Thursday. Reportedly, about 30 junta soldiers died in the heavy fighting.
  • According to a spokesperson of the Sagaing Forum, the Helping Hand to Sagaing People was set up in accordance with the decision of the Sagaing Forum to help the victims of war in the local area.
  • According to a Yangon Revolution Force, over 100 members of the Yangon Urban Revolution Forces were arrested in the first six months of 2023.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, the junta army set fire to Falam-O Village on Wednesday. Reportedly, over 30 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • No. (13) Gantgaw District PDF announced that the public was not to use the Saw-Kyauktu Road in Magwe Region.
  • On Thursday, the junta police station made the family of Too Too, a middle-weight world boxing champion sign a document saying that he had died.
  • According to some revolutionary forces, the junta army arrested the leader of the Devil Underground Force fighting the junta armed forces in Mandalay.
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, a rally of Kyankhine Townahip protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Dawei Township of Taninthayi Region, there was an attack on a military car near ZaHar Village on Yay-Dawei Union Road on Wednesday evening. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers including a captain died.
  • In Longlone Township, the junta army indiscriminately shot mortars into Kamaungtaung Village. Reportedly, a local woman aged 17 lost her life and a child aged 11 was injured.
  • In Longlone Township, unknown gunmen attacked the junta Maungmakan Police Station at about 4:00 am Thursday.
  • On behalf of Ma Nan from Thailand, a representative of the Rural Land provided food items to displaced people in Demoso Township in Karenni State.
  • On Wednesday evening, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing via fighter jet on Kyaukpenyo Village in Karenni State. Reportedly, 2 PDF members were injured.
  • According to Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, up to 3,785 people have lost their lives due to the junta armed forces since the military coup up to 12 July.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Tunzun of Chin State, local CDFs attacked the junta army on patrol at the high school at about 10:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and two guns were confiscated along with a 60mm grenade.
  • On 10 July, Paletwa Township CDF announced that it was just a rumor regarding the news about their recruitment of students under the age of 18.
  • In Kyaukdagar of Bago Region, 20 civilians were arrested by the junta army from 6 to 11 July. Reportedly, most of them will be sentenced to prison time.
  • In Laiza in Kachin State, the Kachin Independence Army conducted a guerrilla attack on junta troops carrying rations and weapons on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties amongst the junta soldiers.
  • In Moemauk Township, there was a battle between the KIA and the junta army in the Kalartaung area on Thursday morning. Reportedly, a large number of junta soldiers died and were injured in the heavy fighting.
  • In Titain Township of Chin State, 4 members of the CDF and the PDF lost their lives in the fight to gain control of the junta army camp in Thein Ngin.

The Military Council

  • The junta propaganda leader General Zaw Min Tun stated that the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Thailand had met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi for one and a half hours on 9 July.
  • According to the junta newspapers, the public will not be allowed to take their mobile phones when they go to the Mausoleum, the Museum of the General and the Cabinet Office on Martyrs’ Day, which will fall on 19 July.
  • After the second day’s meeting on Wednesday, the junta peace team and the RCSS signed some agreements.
  • On Wednesday, the junta Central Bank stated that they had revoked the licenses for foreign currency exchange of 10 companies.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Economics and Commerce, 63,766 tons of corn were exported to Thailand within the first three months of the current fiscal year and it earned nearly 20 million USD.
  • In Thein Zayat of Mon State, Myo Thiha, a local policeman, got drunk and drove the car on Wednesday night. He then ran into a motorbike of 3 family members near Sittaung River Bridge. Reportedly, he opened fire wildly and then left.

Summary on 14 July

  • The military junta has been badly in need of foreign currency. So, they have revoked the licenses of financial companies using excuses and they have tried to control the dollar market.
  • With a great loss on the ground, the junta armed forces have had to rely on airstrikes. Without such support, they would face a greater loss.
