The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Wednesday, the NUG announced that U Kyaw Zaw and U Nay Bone Latt had been appointed as spokespersons for the NUG President's Office and the NUG Prime Minister’s Office respectively.
  • On Sunday, there was a video conference meeting between the NUG ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Planning, Finance and Investment and the Myanmar community in the UK.
  • In cooperation with Arizona State University the Spring University will award scholarships to 30 students.
  • The Ta’ang Political Consultative Council (TPCC) called on ethnic people to join hands in unity for the fight against the military dictatorship and the establishment of a federal democracy.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region, a combined rally from the rural community and the local public administration marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • In Kani Township, there was a rural protest against the military dictatorship at 10:00 am on Wednesday.
  • In the north of Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of local villagers expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • At 2:00 am on Wednesday, the junta armed forces invaded local villages in Salingyi Township and Yinmabin Township. Consequently, over 12,000 people from 13 villages had to run away in the dark.
  • In Ye-U Township, the junta army set fire to Montsi Village on Sunday and Monday. Reportedly, 122 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta armed forces raided Shankaing Village and Tayar Village. Reportedly, they burnt piles of rice, tractors, cars and houses.
  • In Monywa, the Basic Education Students’ Union hung revolutionary banners at the clock tower and Kanthaya.
  • In Mawlight Township, the junta army raided Wekatha Village at about 5:00 pm on Tuesday, shooting heavy artillery. They then burnt down houses.
  • In Salingyi Township, the Monywa University Students’ Union donated rice, oil, warm clothes and money to local fire victims on Sunday.
  • In Kantbalu District, 81 civilians lost their lives due to the inhumane activities of the junta army.
  • In Maha Aungmye Township in Mandalay Region, Sein Win, the administrator of Yadanarbumi East Ward, was shot dead at 5:30 pm on Tuesday.
  • In Madayar Township, an underground guerrilla group attacked a junta convoy of 12 motorbikes. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, local PDFs attacked the junta armed forces invading Nyaungyin Village. Reportedly, no less than eight junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Myaing Township, local PDFs confiscated products made by junta army-controlled companies and destroyed them, on Monday.
  • On the old highway from Yangon to Mandalay, there was a mine explosion at the entrance gate to Taungoo at 9:10 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, four junta members, including a police officer, were injured.
  • In Tanintharyi Region, there was a mine attack on the junta army on the Dawei-Htikhi Road on Monday night.
  • The Prime Minister of Cambodia, who is also the Chair of the ASEAN, stated that it might take five more years to resolve the crisis in Myanmar.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Namsam Township in Shan north, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) recovered nearly 50 bodies of junta soldiers and caught 24 others alive. According to a TNLA spokesperson both sides lost members.
  • Starting on 7 December, the junta armed forces dropped large numbers of soldiers from six helicopters and attacked the TNLA camp near Konetha Village. Reportedly, no less than 30 local people were still missing in the forest.
  • In a battle near Konetha Village, the TNLA shot at two junta helicopters. Reportedly, both of them were damaged.
  • In the area under the Karen National Union, the junta army and Border Guard Force (BGF) shot mortars into local villages.
  • In Dwelo Township under the control of KNU Brigade (5), there was a battle between the junta army and the KNLA on Monday morning. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and another one was injured.
  • In Mindat Township in Chin State, local CDFs attacked 20 junta soldiers on patrol at 2:30 pm Tuesday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died and two others were seriously injured.
  • In Fruso Township in Karenni State, the Karenni National Defence Force attacked the junta army invading the area on Tuesday afternoon. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and another one was injured.

The Military Council

  • In the meeting with MSME business owners in Kachin State on Tuesday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that there would be national support where necessary for the production of bamboo products.
  • The junta leader told people to ride bicycles and be thrifty with fuel oil.
  • In a meeting with junta members from Northern Headquarters, Min Aung Hlaing claimed that the junta army would not deviate from the path of multi-party democracy.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, there was a meeting between the second junta leader Soe Win and a delegation from the Russian State-Owned Nuclear Corporation led by the Deputy Director General in Naypyidaw.
  • The junta Minister of Electricity said that over 8,100 MW of electricity could be produced via wind power at six locations in Myanmar.
  • According to the junta railway department, there was a mine attack on a train on the Yangon to Mawlamyein line and it was derailed. Consequently, some trains on the same route were cancelled.
